Avocado a Superfood?
Avocado Smoothie Recipe
This quick, easy recipe is one of our favorite avocado smoothies. All you need is five ingredients and five minutes, and you’ll be ready to sip on a superfood smoothie.
For an elevated sipping experience, place your glasses in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour before use. Select the perfect avocado; carefully rinse and dry it. Slowly cut open the avocado and remove the pit. Dicing the avocado will help it blend more quickly and evenly. Here’s how to make a good (and safe) slice:
- 1 Avocado From Mexico, pitted and diced
- 1 c. of milk of choice
- 1/2 c. vanilla yogurt
- 3 tbsp. honey or maple syrup
- A handful of ice cubes (approx. 6-8)
Pro tip:
Avocado is a plant-based dieter’s best friend. For a dairy-free avocado smoothie, opt for plant-based milk and yogurt.
- Place the diced avocado, milk, vanilla yogurt, honey, and ice cubes into a blender. Blend the mixture until smooth, about 30–45 seconds.
- Stop the blender to check the consistency of the mixture. Use a plastic spatula to scoop the mixture from the sides of the blender to ensure it is well blended. For a thicker texture, blend for a shorter time; for a thinner consistency, blend for a longer time.
- Pour the smoothie into two chilled glasses. Serve with a reusable straw.
- Cover the remaining smoothie and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. (If there’s any left!)
Peach and Avocados From Mexico are awesome allies in this creamy, sweet concoction. There’s no such thing as too much green goodness, so add more Avocados From Mexico for a velvety texture or include kale for even more nutrients.
- 1/2 peach
- 1/4 ripe Avocado From Mexico, peeled and pitted
- 1 bunch spinach
- 1 c. soy milk
- 1/2 c. ice
- 1 tbsp. ground flax seed
- 1 scoop protein powder
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
- Once the ingredients are well combined, check the consistency of the mixture. For a thicker texture, blend for a shorter period; for a thinner consistency, blend for a longer period.
- Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy.
