Nudging picky eaters to nibble nutritiously can prove tough, but it can be done, especially when you sneak scrumptious Avocados from Mexico into their favorite foods.
Most fussy diners dig melted cheese, so make it an ally in your secret avo operation! Place thin slices of avocado on one half of a flour tortilla, cover with your cheese of choice, and fold in half. Place in the microwave for about 30 seconds — until cheese melts completely — and serve. Easy cheesy!
Add avocados for creamier, smoother, and even tastier refried beans! Simply mash an avocado and mix it in with already prepared refried pinto or black beans. Top with low-fat cheese or stuff inside a multi-grain tortilla.
Usually, even choosy chompers think ranch dressing rocks! Use a store-bought mix but substitute mashed avocado for the sour cream or mayo. Keep the green from being seen by using the dressing in a sandwich or wrap instead of mayo.
Everyone loves a milkshake — especially when it’s chocolate! And those in the know love it even more when it contains a wholesome avocado. A bonus? This treat keeps tummies full until dinnertime.
For two smoothies, blend together the fruit from 1 ripe avocado, 1 heaping tablespoon unsweetened cocoa, 1 cup nonfat milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 cup frozen strawberries, and one banana.
Even a glimpse of chunky fruits and vegetables can send picky diners running from the table. You can avoid that by blending tomatoes, avocados, carrots, and zucchini together to make a creamy lasagna sauce. Assemble the rest of the dish using ingredients that won’t make your fussy eater fuss. Meanwhile, the secret is in the sauce. Shhh … don’t tell!
Once you get your picky eater on board, let them play with their food with these avo science projects.
